John Merrick is a writer

I’m a writer and historian originally from Crewe, in Cheshire in north west England, now based in London.

I occasionally write for money, less occasionally for nothing. My work, usually on on questions of class, culture and history, has been published in the New Statesman, the Guardian, the Baffler, New Left Review, Jacobin, Fence, the Point, and a bunch of other places. There’s links to most of them on my website.

I also edited a collection of the historian Raphael Samuel’s essays, which Verso published earlier this year. You really should have bought a copy already. If you haven’t then you can do that here.

I recently left Verso Books, where I was an editor, after 10 years working. I now work as the deputy editor of The Break Down.

You can email me at johnphilipmerrick@gmail.com, or by replying to any of the newsletters I send out.
